the Digital Libraries 2000 conference. San
Antonio is one of the most historic cities in
the southwestern region of the United States,

destinations. The city boasts a very rich
cultural heritage, managing to successfully

one of San Antonio's internationally known
theme parks which include both Sea World and
Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

riverwalk. This picturesque pedestrian zone
lines the San Antonio river as it meanders
through the heart of the city. It is lined
with a variety of shops, restaurants, and pubs,
and is within easy walking distance of many of
the downtown hotels.

San Antonio's geographic location, in the
central region of Texas, makes it an ideal
launching point for a range of different
excursions into the surrounding area. The
beautiful Texas hill country lies just to the
north of San Antonio. The Texas coastline and
Mexico are also both within driving distance of
the city. Additionally, the weather in the San
Antonio area during the months of May and June
is typically mild and pleasant offering a nice
escape for visitors from colder climates.
