Workshop 6: Virtual documents: hypertext functionality in digital libraries

Organizers: Carolyn Watters & Michael Bieber

Time: Saturday, June 3 (full day)

Description

Virtual documents are documents for which the content, nodes, or links, or all three, are created as needed. This workshop intends to examine the role of virtual documents in digital libraries. This includes the management and expansion of hypertext functionality to handle virtual documents in this context, i.e., creating, authenticating, revising, storing. We welcome models, issues and proposals related to hypertext functionalities and virtual documents for digital libraries, as well as scenarios of such applications. In this workshop we look forward to fostering the fertile area of overlap not only with members of the Digital Library, Hypertext, and Virtual Document communities but with the WWW, the MIS, and the Open Hypermedia Systems (OHS) communities as well.
